All-new Supercaliber - The next-generation ultimate XC race bike

Fortune favours the fast

When it comes to course-scorching speed, what matters most is that it’s proven, and no cross-country mountain bike sets the bar quite as high as Supercaliber. From its first iteration to the all-new second-generation, Supercaliber has had its mettle tested on the most demanding cross-country courses on the planet. It charges ahead with hardtail efficiency and full-suspension compliance that crushes the competition. And you don’t just have to take our word for it – since 2019, Supercaliber has harvested an ever-growing collection of 30+ gold medals from the world’s most renowned competitions, from World Cups to World Championships, just to prove it.

THE PROOF IS ON THE PODIUM.

More trail-taming travel

Year after year, cross-country courses continue to get gnarlier. Bigger features and rowdier rock gardens can send riders off the bike, that’s why we’ve bumped up Supercaliber’s suspension. Now with 110 mm of front and 80 mm of rear travel, Supercaliber gives you more compliance in the rough stuff, so you can rally faster.

IsoStrut - Fast is smooth

Trek’s exclusive IsoStrut shock sits at the heart of Supercaliber, shifting it into territory that rides the fine line between a hardtail and full suspension. IsoStrut is structural suspension that pairs damped, tuneable travel with unique pivotless seatstays that move with the trail, keeping you smooth and fast.

Strut meets Luxe

Smoother suspension performance with a new RockShox SIDLuxe IsoStrut means rocks and roots feel better than ever.

SL VS SLR - Light or lighter

With two levels of OCLV Carbon to choose from, you get to pick how light you roll. Go light with Supercaliber SL or even lighter with Supercaliber SLR that saves grams by reducing material, using a higher-modulus carbon lay-up and skipping the guides for internal cable routing.

As a feather

Gram counters, rejoice. Supercaliber SLR’s intensely light lay-up keeps weight shockingly low, weighing in at just 9.3 kg for a Carbon Red Smoke Supercaliber 9.9 XX AXS T-Type build in size medium.

Once upon a trail

Extra fuel in the tank

Riding fast burns through a lot of energy. That’s why Supercaliber has room for two full-sized water bottles, so you can stay fuelled all the way to the finish line.

No small flex

Flexing stays may make a ride smooth, but they can pose challenges when it’s time to brake. To allow for the most flex possible – and a smoother ride – we use a brake mount that floats around the rear axle, allowing the rear triangle and suspension to act freely while improving braking performance.

Progressive cross-country geometry

1: Longer reach

Supercaliber Gen 2 gets longer in the cockpit for extra stability and control, so you can rip through rowdy descents.

2: Slacker headtube

A slacker, 67.5° headtube angle stretches out the front-end for easy handling on steep downhill sections and techy terrain.

3: More travel

Supercaliber Gen 2 gets a bump in travel with 110 mm in the front and 80 mm in the rear to haul ass on the downs.

IsoStrut Shock

IsoStrut: an innovation in speed

The magic of Supercaliber

Supercaliber is a radically new short-travel XC race bike that sprints and climbs faster than a full-suspension bike and gives you more control than a hardtail. Its magic comes from IsoStrut, a structural, frame-integrated shock created in partnership with RockShox suspension engineers that delivers the ideal suspension solution for today’s fastest cross country racers.

How IsoStrut works

IsoStrut is a frame-integrated shock that provides 80 mm of damped, tuneable rear travel for XC racers. Supercaliber’s unique design relies on minimalism. There’s nothing here that isn’t necessary, and every piece is made to work together as part of a greater whole.

Lightweight, structural speed

Standard full-suspension bikes have an independent shock and linkage system, but IsoStrut was designed to be a structural part of Supercaliber. This design eliminates the extra hardware and parts normally associated with full-suspension bikes, and the extra weight along with them.

Anti-rotation, anti-deflection

IsoStrut is encased in a structural stanchion that prevents twisting, flex, deflection and shock damage. You get the direct power transfer and racy feel of a hardtail, with a short-travel shock that soaks up the trail’s fatiguing bumps.

Pivotless seat stays

When you add extra linkages to a bike’s design, you get excess lateral motion. That’s not efficient, and it’s not fast. With IsoStrut, our engineers ditched the traditional rear pivot and designed wide, flat seat stays that bow vertically, not laterally. They keep the rear of the bike stiff and give it the responsive feel of a hardtail.

Damped and fully tuneable

IsoStrut uses a standard shock pump so you can tune the spring rate for your weight, and it has a dial for adjusting rebound and a lockout.

Supercaliber SLR 9.9 XTR Di2 Gen 2

The Supercaliber SLR 9.9 XTR is an ultra-light carbon XC mountain bike equipped with the top components for race day. Its SLR Mountain Carbon frame is as light as it is meticulous, with a high modulus lay-up that gives you all the stiffness you crave and none of the weight. XC courses get rowdier every year, so it comes equipped with a 110 mm fork and 80 mm of IsoStrut rear suspension to smooth your roll without kicking pedalling efficiency to the wind. It’s all topped off with carbon wheels, a carbon cockpit and lightning-fast shifting from Shimano’s all-new iconic XTR Di2 wireless drivetrain.

It's right for you if...

Party laps are fun, but you're ready to race. You want a cross-country steed that sprints up climbs, hammers to the finish and feels good doing it thanks to 80 mm of IsoStrut rear suspension. From wheels to cockpit, you crave carbon and you want the most meticulous high-mod carbon lay-up we offer on a mountain bike.

The tech you get

A featherweight, high-modulus SLR OCLV Mountain Carbon frame with modern XC geometry. 110 mm of front suspension from a Fox Factory 34 SL fork with Float EVOL air spring, GRIP SL 2 damper, dual remote lockout and 80 mm of IsoStrut rear suspension from a RockShox SIDLuxe shock. A Shimano XTR Di2 12-speed drivetrain, Bontrager Kovee RSL carbon wheels, carbon Bontrager RSL Integrated bar/stem combo, Fox Transfer SL Dropper post and Shimano Deore XTR M9200 hydraulic disc brakes.

The final word

The Supercaliber SLR 9.9 XTR is bred for racing and comes from a pedigree of champions. You get our top carbon XC full-suspension frame dripping with carbon components and the trail-trusted reliability of Shimano's XTR  Di2 drivetrain.

Why you'll love it

  1. You get a 110 mm fork and 80 mm of IsoStrut rear suspension that partners with slacker, capable geometry for handling the roots and rocks of modern XC courses
  2. You don't have to compromise stiffness for weight savings thanks to the SLR OCLV Mountain Carbon frame that's intensely light, stiff and responsive
  3. IsoStrut gives you tunable, damped suspension without missing out on efficiency for hammering up climbs at top speed
  4. Pivotless seat stays save on weight and actively bend to help soak up trail chatter
  5. Upgraded components, like Shimano's XTR Di2 drivetrain and a Fox Factory 34 SL fork, give you the advantage you want, where you want it
